We found a new realtor
We have signed with a new realtor to list our house in the Spring. She had come to the house when Sam was home and came back to talk to us both later that week. She lives in Brentwood, so knows a lot about the neighborhood etc. Hopefully we will have better luck in the Spring....

Yet another one.....
The realtor who looked at our house last week was bringing her clients to look at it on Thursday afternoon. I came home early, grabbed Ben who was sick, and we left everything looking perfect. They did not show and said they would be back on Friday morning. So, I ran around on Friday morning, cleaning up,putting the lights on, etc. Still no show.
Mike got this from the realtor after he messaged her: I did take them to the house Mike, they just felt the neighborhood driving in was not for them. I am sorry - they just turned thumbs down because of the other houses on the street.
Ben keeps asking why we bother when everyone hates the street, I tell him we might as well make the house look as good as we can. Mike needs to seriously consider how he can address this before we list again in the Spring.

Moving in to November
The house officially came off the market on October 31. We had an agent preview the house for out of town buyers on Friday. She liked the house, was not sure about the neighbourhood (of course). She is showing to her clients on Thursday. Someone looked at the house yesterday, but they were not here long, so I doubt they are interested.
Mike said that everyone in the office has been shocked by how universal the dislike for the street has been. It is so frustrating because we can do nothing about it. I'm sure they hear comments similar to ours all the time though. We do have the best house on the street by far and so it will always be hard to sell. Also, I was concerned about the street/area when we bought. The house was just so much better than any others we had seen.
We are going to continue to list the house with the agency, but it will not be listed officially on websites. Our plan is to list again in the Spring and hope for more interest at peak selling time.
Since the listing has been removed, realtors are contacting us already about listing the house!!!!

Another house showing
Last week was extremely quiet-let's say dead-with house showings. So, imagine our surprise when we had a showing yesterday afternoon. We think it was people who looked at the house twice on the first day the house was on the market. The agent has been quibbling about the square footage for a couple of weeks. Our agent thinks that they may put in an offer, we'll see. It was raining yesterday and our house stands up to any weather, so that may be a plus.
The house always shows well, it's the street that's the downfall. I feel like we clean up after our neighbours as much as ourselves these days. Sam has been cutting Caroline's grass because there's no way she's going to do it. I even went across the street and picked up all the trash in their yard yesterday!!!!

Our first Open House
We had an Open House yesterday, so we walked up to look at one in Brentwood since it was open at the same time. There were quite a few groups of people came through the house. Of course, much positive feedback about the house and much negative about the eyesore next door and its accompanying barking dog. SIGH....
Possibilty in Brentwood
We looked at a house in Brentwood yesterday and we both liked it. There were a huge amount of people looking at the open house, so it may go very quickly.

Feedback on the house....
The house has been on the market for 5 days now. We have had 6 showings-one was a return visit, one didn't even come in the house, but still more interest than during the whole 4 months we had the house for sale before. Sam said it's hard not to get upset when people don't immediately love your house, but we have always said everyone loves the house and hates the street. We even call people who come with agents "street haters". We got the usual feedback from the last two

We had 3 appointments today. One was a return visit. More interest already than last time it was listed. It was a bit of a pain because both Ben and I were home today, but we made it work

Trying again......
We saw a house in Brentwood that we really liked, but unfortunately it was already under contract. That got us looking in Brentwood again and we saw a house on Sunday afternoon. We really liked it, but it was just a little too small and we could not make it work for us. After Sam looked at several possibilities in Webster, we decided to list our house again. Apparently, it's a sellers' market (we'll see how that holds up) and so we are going to list unofficially until the end of October. We'll take off the market during meet season and then relist in the Spring.
I'm in 2 minds about it. I love our house and we'll never get anything as nice again. However, it is just way too big and doesn't work for us any more. We need to move into something smaller that works more for our lives these days.
We'll see if we can get an offer or not!!!!
